My name is Jason Little and I have worked as an Optician and Eyewear Stylist for over 14 years. In 2006 I started at an Optical boutique in Brentwood CA as a sales person. I enjoyed it so much that I quickly became a top eyewear seller, stylist and optician in a matter of months. After working there for a few years, I then went on to work at other various independent optical stores in Los Angeles, St. Louis and Portland Oregon.
The reason I left my first job in Brentwood CA was because the store was bought out by a huge company who owns and controls well over 90% of eyewear brands in the world. I did not like this- so I moved on
Did you know that in the early days even back to the 20’s and 30’s most eyewear was made right here in our country? Now at least 90% of eyewear around the world is made in China. Brands such as Ray-Ban, Chanel, Prada, Oakley and Gucci. There is major quality difference between what is made overseas and what is made right here in our country. Just because a frame states “made in Italy” does not mean that it was made in Italy. A small part of the frame could come from Italy, but the frames themselves are mass-produced in China and costs very little to be made. Don’t be fooled by common brand names!
I have always worked in smaller independent eyewear stores that sell non-mainstream and well-made product from countries such as the USA, Canada, Germany and Japan. I enjoy selling and working with eyewear companies that are hand-made and not mass-produced.
